Don't Confuse Busy With Productive

Black-and-white image of Michelle sitting and writing in a journal beside a laptop, overlaid with text: Are You Busy or Actually Productive?

Some days I check off a dozen things and still feel like I didn’t accomplish anything that mattered.

I still catch myself doing it.

Busy has a way of making us feel successful.

We answer emails, return calls, run errands, attend meetings, and put out fires. At the end of the day, we’re exhausted, so we assume we were productive.

But those aren’t always the same thing.

I’ve learned to ask myself one simple question: Did what I did today move me toward the life and business I’m trying to build?

Sometimes the answer is yes.

Sometimes it’s, “Not really.”

That’s not a reason to beat myself up. It’s simply awareness. Awareness gives me the chance to choose differently tomorrow.

I’ve stopped chasing perfect days. I’m just trying to have more intentional ones.

Your Rethink Moment:

Ask yourself, "What took up most of your time today… and did it actually matter?"
