It’s funny how quickly we can become the
roles we play.
Loan officer.
Business owner.
Parent.
Spouse.
Leader.
Friend.
Caregiver.
Somewhere along the way, we can become so
busy being everything to everyone that we lose touch with the person underneath
it all.
I still catch myself doing that.
That’s one of the reasons our retreat at
the lake has become one of my favorite traditions.
Yes, we spend time reflecting. We breathe
deeply. We meditate by the water. We dance under the stars around a campfire.
We laugh until our cheeks hurt and have the kinds of conversations that only
happen when people feel safe enough to be fully themselves.
But that’s not really what makes it
special.
What’s special is that, for a little while,
no one is trying to prove anything.
No one is introducing themselves by their
job title.
No one is measuring their worth by how
productive they’ve been.
We’re simply people… remembering who we
are.
I’ve come to believe we all need a place
like that.
A place where the noise gets quiet enough
to hear our own thoughts.
A place where the people around us remind
us who we are instead of who we’re supposed to be.
Because sometimes the most important thing
we can do isn’t work harder.
It’s pause long enough to reconnect with
ourselves.
Your Rethink Moment
Where do you go — and who do you need to be
with — to remember who you are when all the titles and responsibilities are set
aside?

P.S. We all need places where we can show
up without having to prove, perform, or have everything figured out. Join my FREE Spark Membership for
weekly journal prompts, meaningful conversations, and a community designed to
help you pause, reconnect, and make moves that matter.
